Penny Prior planted her tree in early 2010, it's about 2 years old and 9 feet tall in the picture on the right.

“I have come many times to Ahu Lani Sanctuary, but now I have my own special site that feels so sacred and personal.  I look forward to spending time with this tree whenever it is possible to return.  I am happy to contribute to the restoration of the aina.  Mahalo to all the people of Ahu Lani Sanctuary who have made this possible.”

Oct 2011: Penny giving her koa some TLC

Early 2012: Almost 9 feet tall and healthy

Rob Kinslow was the very first of our visitors to plant a koa tree at Ahu Lani.

"I didn't know it at the time, but I gave my koa tree an extra large dose of rhizobia mix when I planted it, which helps the koa trees grow strong and fast. Wow, did it ever take off! I get a great thrill whenever Ahu Lani emails me a new picture of my adopted tree." --Rob

[NOTE: Ahu Lani now innoculates all of its seedlings with the magic rhizobia mixture that Rob helped discover.]

Early 2012: About 31 robust feet tall! Planted in June 2003

Cipriano and Monica planted their koa tree in 2005. In Feb 2012 it was about 22 feet tall.

"Planting this tree was one of the great spiritual moments in our life. It's a wonderful experience to watch its growth over the years." --Cip & Monica

Dano planted his koa tree in 2006. It's now 16 feet tall.

"Giving back to the land:  I planted my koa seedling at Ahu Lani several years ago when I was there on a vacation.  I was told to protect the seedling with rocks around the base so the wild pigs will not be able to dig it up.  After many trips into the river gorge on the property I was able to gather enough rocks for the job.  This was a very physical process but I finished the job.  Years later I can see that the hard work payed off.  I'm told the the koa seedling is now sixteen feet tall.  Unbelievable!  I can't wait until I return one day to see the koa tree I planted and hopefully plant another one or two.  Thank you Ahu Lani and Davey for the wonderful experience. I will always cherish the experience.”  --Dano

Faye planted her tree in 2011. Here she is with Dave after selecting a nice seedling from the greenhouse. “Planting a tree at Ahu Lani was the highlight of my trip to Hawaii!”
